Why does the minute matter?
Every kuta below is read from each person’s Moon sign and nakshatra, both of which move slowly, so an approximate time (we substitute local solar noon if you don’t know it) is almost always close enough. Frequently asked questions

What is Ashtakoota / Guna Milan?
Ashtakoota ("eight kutas") is the classical Jyotish method for comparing two birth charts for marriage compatibility, most often called Guna Milan. Each kuta compares one specific dimension — temperament, planetary friendship, and so on — and the scores add up to a traditional total out of 36.
Why does this tool score out of 34, not 36?
The full system has eight kutas. This tool computes seven and deliberately leaves out Vashya Kuta (2 points), because its classical rule splits two zodiac signs at their midpoint into different groups and we were not confident enough in that detail to publish a number and call it tradition. The "how this was calculated" note under your result lists that, and the two kutas that use a simplified scoring tier rather than the full graded table.
Does a low score mean the relationship will fail?
No. This is one traditional method, applied to two Moon positions, and it is not a verdict on two people. It's most useful as a starting point for a fuller conversation with the actual charts, not as a pass/fail test.
What does it say about Mangal (Manglik) dosha?
It reports whether Mars falls in one of the six houses from the ascendant that classical texts associate with Mangal dosha, for each chart, and states in the same place that classical texts list a range of cancellations (dosha bhanga) which this tool does not compute. A flag is one placement, not a conclusion — and without a birth time there is no reliable ascendant, so it is reported as unknown rather than absent.
Where do the four themes come from?
From us, not from the tradition. Ashtakoota has eight kutas and no themes; grouping them into communication, emotional connection and long-term is our editorial choice, so each panel names the classical kutas it contains. Friction is the fourth theme and is deliberately a named list rather than a score.
